Stater. Obverse and reverse of a gold stater of the Corieltavi tribe, dating to around 50-10 BC. This coin was found by Dan Crowe at the Stixwould rally and is part of a small hoard which is currently going through the treasure process. Several club members attended this rally and all had a good time with some good finds including some nice hammered coins which were all recorded with the portable antiquities scheme.

Sword pommel. A rare Viking sword pommel and upper hand guard found in the north of the Island by Rob farrer and Dan Crowe in March 08. The Knuckle shaped pommel has intricately cast designs and is bound with silver wire. The boat shaped upper hand guard has matching designs. It is the first of it's kind to be found on the Island and it is thought to have come from Norway with a high status Viking in the late ninth to early tenth century.
Rob & Dan. " Rob and Dan admire their find in the foyer of the Manx museum. The sword parts have been mounted in Perspex to represent how the sword handle or "hilt" may have fitted together."
